The MAGIC in Fashion

Designers, buyers, brands and fashion connoisseurs bustled into Las Vegas last night with the kickoff of MAGIC. The twice a year fashion trade show always guarantees a busy time and celebrities galore. Usually there is some lead up time and buzz surrounding the show, but this season it seems to have entered quietly but ready to make an impact. The trade show runs until Wednesday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Even with a bigger venue and 1,500 new exhibitors, the show sold out quickly so unless you got a ticket the only items you will be previewing are the ones at the clubs. Yet with a bigger show means bigger events meaning it will be worth checking out. Some require a MAGIC badge or personal invite, but this is Vegas… someone may know someone that could get you in if you really wanted to go. Here is the list of the best events to check out.

Today – Monday, February 13:

Maloof Long Ollie Challenge – 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Level 2
Fifteen pro and upstart amateur skaters compete for cash and prizes to beat the existing long Ollie world record.

Sexiest Server Open Bar Event – 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
STK Steakhouse at The Cosmopolitan
Okay… this isn’t anything to do with MAGIC, but it is open to the public and will be full of sexy ladies.

S.L.A.T.E. presents Lauryn Hill – 9 p.m.
Mandalay Bay, House of Blues
This is by invitation only, but if you are a die-hard Lauryn Hill fan, maybe you will get lucky.

Official Sourcing @ MAGIC Party – 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Marquee at The Cosmopolitan
You may have received a special invite to see Foster the People before 10 p.m. at Marquee, but if not you can Party Rock after with Redfoo of LMFAO.

Fashion Week’s Biggest Party – 10 p.m.

Creative Recreation, Hudson, MMX No 12, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Manufactured Superstars, DJ Spider, DJ Five, DJ Irie, and DJ Ross One… yeah that is one big party.

MAGIC ends on Wednesday but don’t be surprise if the people stay to party throughout the weekend. It’s President’s Day on Monday and a four day weekend to party on through until Monday.
