In the city that never sleeps, we don’t take holidays off either. The holidays kick off in a couple of weeks with Thanksgiving and Vegas is still open for business. This may be a slow time for Sin City, but we make an excuse to through a big party. Did you know that the first Thanksgiving lasted three days? In 2011, it will be celebrated for five days in Vegas, kicking off the night before. In the United States, the night before Thanksgiving is the single biggest day for bar sales. Perhaps everyone feels like they have to get drunk in order to deal with family the next day.
As Wednesday is the biggest drinking day, it is also the biggest night for bar fights. Makes sense, but that doesn’t mean the fighting can’t be fun. Surrender Nightclub is supporting “Happy Violence” on Wednesday, November 23rd with a pillow fight and Dada Life. Seriously, how much fun does that sound? Surrender and Dada Life branded pillows will be handed out to insure a little fun in the club while you listen to Dada Life’s new single, “Happy Violence” spinning on the tracks. I don’t know if I have looked forward to such an awesome party (other than my own) in a long time. I ensure this is one party you are not going to want to miss.
I have a feeling I am going to be hungover on Thanksgiving Day. Every year the Vegas family and I get together to cook, drink and reminisce about the years prior. After taking a nap after the turkey induced food coma, whoever is left alive heads out to celebrate. Thursdays is always a big night in Vegas kicking off the weekend and a couple of the clubs are taking advantage of Turkey Day. Tao Nightclub is throwing its 6th Annual Terminate the Turkey party to kick of KLUC 98.5 toy drive. Anyone that brings a toy will enjoy an open bar from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. and a portion of cover will be donated. If you are interested in being thankful for winning cash, Haze Nightclub is having a dirty pilgrim contest. All the Vegas ladies that dress up in a sexy pilgrim or Indian costume have a chance to compete for $5,000 prize. That is one way to celebrate Thanksgiving Vegas style.
I might have to stay up and party through the night and then head to the stores for Black Friday. It is one of the biggest days in retail where people line up in the wee hours of the morning to snatch some great deals. I only achieved this once a few years back, but I managed to cut the lines and score a TV. I’m not really one for fighting the crowds to save a few bucks. However, I am down for Blacklight Party. The local saloon, Revolver, up in North Las Vegas is throwing this bash asking attendees to dress in white or blacklight sensitive clothing. Revolver will be handing out highlighters to enhance the experience and offering $2 draft beers and $3 Jack Daniels shots. Giving me shots of whiskey with a highlighter in hand could result in some very interesting pictures.
The parties continue throughout the holiday weekend and who knows what I will be getting myself into. At least I will have enough leftovers to cure my hangover cravings. I’ll need it too because once the weekend is over, I have a lineup of parties to attend during the week. Looks like I will have to start researching detox places sooner than later.
